Despite the bad reviews from various film critics, Vice Ganda’s “Amazing Praybeyt Benjamin” remains the undisputed MMFF 2014 top-grosser by virtue of P172 million that it raked in 4 days.

On Day 4 of the 40th Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF), one movie already surpassed the P100 million mark and it’s the Viva Films and Star Cinema co-production, “The Amazing Praybeyt Benjamin.”
Kris Aquino revealed on last Sunday’s episode of “The Buzz” that the Vice Ganda-starrer earned P172 million as of 3:00pm on December 28, 2014. She also announced that her movie “Feng Shui 2″ is running for 2nd place with a gross of P88 million in the box office. Her film’s rival for runner-up position is Vic Sotto’s “My Big Bossing,” which as of this posting, is also doing good at the box office.
Both “Amazing Praybeyt Benjamin” and “Feng Shui 2″ were snubbed during the MMFF 2014 Awards night (“Gabi ng Parangal”) last December 27. Vice Ganda failed to bag a Best Actor nomination, the category which was won by Derek Ramsay for “English Only, Please.” Kris Aquino, on the other hand, failed to get a Best Actress nomination for “Feng Shui 2,” the category which was won by Jennylyn Mercado for “English Only, Please.” Furthermore, both films did not get a single award.
